Omar perhaps has an unfair reputation as the “other” Taiwanese distillery. Nevertheless, this a lovely dram, produced at the Nantou state owned distillery, who first starting distilling whisky in 2008. This single malt whisky has been aged entirely in former Bourbon American oak casks, giving it a wonderfully full body and oily mouthfeel, alongside notes of toffee, vanilla, orange peel and nutmeg. What’s more, the whisky has been bottled at 46% ABV, and without chill filtration or artificial coloration. Another fantastic world whisky for drinkers to try.
